I have been working with SQL Server since 1999. Sometime around the end of 2008 I became very interested in the SQL Server BI stack. I decided that BI was a good choice for a career specialty so I began to focus, both personally and professionally, on increasing my skills in the SQL Server BI Stack. In addition to reading as many books on the subject as I could find, I started reading blogs, and I started attending SQL Saturday events in the region.
For me, a specialty in the MS SQL Server BI stack has been a great choice. I find it challenging, and engaging. I love the problem solving that comes with the work. A few years ago I felt I had gotten so much out of the SQL Server community that I wanted to start to participate and give some back. I started a local chapter of PASS in the Capital Region of NY, I started blogging intermittently on www.bidn.com and I even began speaking at SQL Saturday events. The more I participate in the SQL community, the more I enjoy it. So I thought I would launch my own blog in an effort to try to continue to give to the community that has given so much to me.
On this website & blog I will try to give useful information on using and working with Microsoft SQL Server and the entire BI stack SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS as well as some of the periphery of SQL Server BI. I will work hard to give the best information I can in order to help to solve common problems that I come across every day with the hope that maybe publishing some of these solutions will help you in your every day work. I will also highlight and promote events where I will be speaking and publish my presentation slide decks and code as well. Thanks for taking the time to visit my site. I hope you find value here.
